Willemite and Calcite is a zinc silicate mineral ( Zn 2SiO 4) and a minor ore of zinc. It is highly fluorescent (green and red) under shortwave ultraviolet light. ..and also very bright (green with pink) under 365nm filtered longwave UV. Pictures are taken with both longwave 365nm (Convoy C8) and under shortwave 255nm 35 watt Way Too Cool.
These are chunks or cut pieces all from tailings piles, from the Franklin and Sterling mines in Franklin New Jersey. All pieces are between half an ounce and 3 ounces in size. These make a great addition to any long or shortwave mineral collection.
Some pieces may or may not contain other fluorescent minerals such as Calcite, Sphalerite, Hardonstonite and others.
