Willemite is a zinc silicate mineral ( Zn 2SiO 4) and a minor ore of zinc. It is highly fluorescent (green) under shortwave ultraviolet light, and also very bright under 365nm filtered longwave uv. Pictures are taken with both Longwave 365nm (Convoy C8) and under shortwave 255nm 35 watt Way Too Cool.
These are chunks or cut pieces all from tailings piles, from the Franklin and Sterling mines in Franklin New Jersey. All pieces are between half an ounce and 3 ounces in size. These make a great addition to any long or shortwave mineral collection.
These will blow your friends away when you light them up with the Convoy C8!
Some pieces may or may not contain other fluorescent minerals such as Calcite, Sphalerite, Hardonstonite and others.
Get your piece of history from the Franklin mines before they are all gone, as mining has stopped in Franklin so no new material is being dug!
